Grants For Medical Research

Medical Research Grant and its Perks

Are you thinking of doing a medical research but are worried about where to get the funds necessary to carry it out? There are many private institutions that are willing to provide the fund in support of this type of research. Pfizer, for instance, is a company offering research grants to successful applicants hoping to advance a research on the medical field.

Unlike the other type of grants, grants for medical research do not have the usual restrictions on income status. Private corporations award the grant in pursuit of the benefits the outcome of the research would input to the industry, and primarily to the grant-awarding company. Submissions are generally done online. The organizations have a reviewing committee tasked to do the selections, which may take up to a month and after the selection process is completed, an official notification would be sent out to the successful candidates. Invitations to apply are sent to the institutions where there are most likely individuals willing to apply or advertised through the sponsoring companies’ websites.

The bulk of points are given based on the importance and benefits of the research proposal. The eligibility requirements may specify certain status of the applicant at the time of the application like for instance, the applicant must have a post-doctoral degree to qualify as candidate. There are also restrictions on the number of enlisted candidate per participating institution.

It would be helpful if the institution he or she is connected with would endorse the applicant. Applicant should be backed up with good and strong recommendation from such institution. The grant may include the sponsor’s shouldering of the total expenses incurred during the project including the salary of an associate hired during the duration of the project as well as equipment costs.  It may also provide for travel expenses directly related to the proper conduct of the project.
